Car Alarms: Nissan Keyless Entry, 2006 nissan sentra, nissan sentra

Question
I did as you suggested and no alarm sounded.  There is nothing in the owners manual about activating the alarm system.  The manual only mentions the remote keyless entry system with a picture of the keyfob in a seperate pamphlet included with the manual.  This pamphlet could easily be changed to a different one if they activated an alarm system.

Do you know of a way to turn the alarm on if there is one?

-----Question-----
I know alot of product manufacturers will disable or not completely enable options that they've already installed to get consumers to pay a little more for the "added feature".  If the panic button on my 2006 Nissan Sentra keyless entry remote causes the horn to sound and the lights to blink, does that indicate that it might be a simple procedure to activate an actual alarm system?

Are you sure you do not have one already?  To check, roll down the driver's window, press lock on the remote.  Let 5 minutes pass then reach in the vehicle and open the door by manually flipping the lock switch to the unlock position(not the power lock button) and open the door from the inside door handle.  If this sounds the alarm then you are good to go, if it does not, I would suggest reading the owner's manual as some vehicles come shipped with the security system turned off and can possibly be turned back on by the vehicle owner.

Answer
I am not familiar enough with the options available to your specific vehicle to say if there is or is not a way to activate it.  I know with some Fords they offer a panic but no alarm, and some GMs (like the Grand Prix) you can turn the alarm on by pulling the radio fuse and pushing other buttons in the vehicle.

I would suggest posting this question to a Nissan enthusiast forum.  Doing a web search I came across http://www.nissanclub.com/forums/ give it a shot.
