Car Alarms: Camry Car Alarm, alarm security system, valet mode

My wife's 1996 Camry's car alarm/security system is going off. We have not used this system in years and no longer have the clicker to control it. How can we disable the system so that we can restart the car?

My sheet does not list a factory alarm for the 96 Camry.
This is probably an after market installed system.  Try to find the valet switch, the valet switch is normally mounted in an out of the location under the driver's side dash of the vehicle.  To activate most valet switches, you must turn the ignition key to the run position and flip the switch.  The LED should light solid indicating it is in valet mode and should disable all security features of the alarm.  To permanently disable the system you would have to locate the brain of the alarm, and pull the fuses supplying it.  This normally requires pulling down the driver's dash panel and tracing back the wires to the brain, removing all fuses that supply it.
