Car Alarms: Unknown car alarm(s) in used 97 ford expedition, dash area, button spring

Question
There's no buttons to do all that, I checked a dozen times. There is a small box with a volume screw on it, but that doesn't work either. That box doesn't have any switches or buttons, by the way.

One of the remote's I have (one has an antenna and a screen with a car on it, and a blinking open lock symbol on it, and the other looks like a simple four button remote), which has  lock, unlock, start engine, and an option button on it, has PRESTIGE written on it.

Any more ideas anyone???

-----Question-----
Well I've only had this truck for a week and already the starter won't work, I got a burned fuse, according to a mechanic one of the fuel injectors stopped functioning, etc., and everyone suspects it's the alarm.

It looks like the alarm that was installed by the previous owner took it to someone very shady to put in the alarm, because no one has figured out how to remove it. No one can find the "brain" yet, and I was wondering what you think.

I'm not sure, but someone said that maybe the original car alarm was hooked up to a different alarm, and that both of them activate at the same time. What do you think?
-----Answer-----
Well, everyone ALWAYS thinks it's the alarm.
That's way they can get out of the trouble
by acting (maybe) dumb.

If installed correctly, the alarm brain
is up to the left or the right of the
steering column, wire tied to exsisting
harnesses. But does the alarm have a valet
overide switch that you are aware of?

If so put the key in the ignition, and turn
forward all the way just before cranking.
Then within 5 seconds, locate, press and
hold in the valet/overide button, found under
the dash area, (push button, spring loaded)
until the installed LED (the blinking light)
in your dash area goes on solid,
and the siren chirps once.

(Your valet switch might be the toggle
(on/off) type. in this case, key on,
flip switch in opposite direction,
then turn the key off.)

This should reset the alarm, and reset
the grounded relay on the starter wire,
allowing you to start the engine.

At this point, the only thing working would
be the keyless entry from the alarm,
if it came equipped that way.

Just Repeat these steps to place it
back to usable armed mode.
You may get 2 chirps, confirming it,
and the lights may flash twice as well.

That should do it.
If you want to remove it at this point,
take it to your neighborhood installer
for this, or buy the wiring chart
(Go to: www.vehiclewires.com)
for the vehicle, and reverse engineer it wire
by wire, until safely removed.

If it does not work out this way,
you will have to replace the system
with one you know how to operate
and what to expect. Don't want to
get stuck in another bad situation.

Let me know what happens.

PS.
If this is the Ford PATS system in the ignition
column, you can get around that. But
let's find out if it's the aftermarket piece first.

Answer
Ok, you need to take the Prestige/Audiovox
unit out of this truck, locate the starter
wire, cut off the aftermarket wiring
going to the ignition harness in the steering column,
and then repair the starter wire.

That will solve the issues since at this point,
no one can make heads or tails of the system in
the truck, it would behoove you to just cut it
out, and start over if you wish.

To get the wiring chart to de install the system safely,
go to www.MYWIRES.com

Good luck with it.
