Car Alarms: starts and shuts off afte five seconds, pink wire, turning the key

Question
I just installed a GV9 autostart on my 2006 silverado. The lock and unlock funtions work fine, but when I try to start it it starts and then shuts off. It does this several times. I cant locate the tach wire behind the dash...so i used one of the coil wires. I programmed the module to sense tachometer and it did the same thing. I then switched it to ontinuous voltage and that did not fix it. I can only find one ignition wire in the bundle, is this correct. I know that I am supposed to hook ign #1 and ign #2 wires to seperate ignition wires...since I could only find the one I hooked them both to the same pink wire. I have seen this done on other chevys and it worked. I know have a check engine light on and have spent way to many hours trying to figure it out. Any help would be great...and if you know a place that will show a factory wiring diagram or color chart for a 06 silverado that would be great!

Answer
The 2006 Silverado does not need a tachometer connection.  If your system offers voltage sensing as an option to monitor if the vehicle started, put it in voltage sensing mode and turn the crank time all the way up.  Your truck's computer handles starting the truck and will not allow the starter to over crank, and it prevents grinding the starter as well.  To prove my point, start your truck with the key and then try to grind the starter by turning the key to the start position with it running, it will not engage the starter.  Also, if your system offers it change the voltage sensing to low, if it does not offer these options, turn off the engine monitoring all together.  I am only really familiar with DEI products and they have these options.

To your ignition wires:  You must power both ignition wires, and power them separately, they are separate from the factory for a reason, not only will you trip a check engine light, but you could cause permanent damage to your transmission.  The second ignition white runs up and left from the ignition harness, test it to verify it is indeed the ignition wire.

To clear your check engine light without a scanner, just disconnect your battery for 5 minutes and it should clear itself.  If it comes back on when you remote start it, troubleshoot your starter then try again.  Do NOT drive the truck if started with the remote start and the check engine light is on.  Make sure that the light does not come on at all when remote starting.
