Car Alarms: Toyota Tundra Doublecab w/keyless (PIO), alarm security system, toyota tundra

I own a 2006 Tundra doublecab with the Keyless entry installed at the port (PIO).  I am told it can be upgraded  by the dealer to a full alarm/security system for $340.  Do you know if there is an aftermarket system that i can install myself without cutting wires or otherwise damaging the factory wiring?  Who makes the Toyota VIP Security system installed by the dealer?  thanks

I am not really familiar with the Toyota VIP systems, but in my experience the factory systems do not have the same operating distance as after market systems would have.  Meaning you have to be fairly close to the vehicle to operate any of the functions of the system.

The price of the system seems fair considering it is a dealer installed piece.

I would suggest posting this question to the Toyota forum where there are people that are in to the Toyota brand and would probably be able to answer this question better.

My preference is DEI product, and with the new SST systems that are out, you would get up to a one mile operating range with a transmitter that confirms operations.

I believe the system is made by Fujitsu Ten.
