Car Alarms: car alarm, jeep grand cherokee, key less entry

Question
how can I disable my car anti-theft device if my remote does not work? I have a 1995 jeep grand cherokee

Answer
I believe there is no real way to permanently disable the alarm. However in the driver's kick panel there is a purple/yellow wire.  This wire goes to ground when you turn the key in the driver's door lock and disarms the factory alarm.

I would recommend putting in a new key less entry unit, and you can integrate this with the factory alarm.  The price of the unit and installation should be less than what a dealership would charge for a replacement transmitter and programming.  If you decide to do it yourself than you can get one very reasonable, should be less than $50.00.
