Car Alarms: de-activating car alarm, replacement remote controls, buick century

Question
i have a 94' buick, century....recently, the alarmns sounds off and i am unable to start car...how do i go about dis-engaging alarm, which is causing problem?....never even knew, i had alarm, till this happened...want to de-activate it

Answer
To my knowledge the '94 Century did not come with a factory installed alarm.  This would lead me to believe that you have an after market security system installed.  I would recommend taking down the dash panel under the steering column, and looking at the ignition harness.  Here is where the installer would have made connections to the factory wiring for the alarm.  In this harness there should be fuses leading to an alarm brain.  I would recommend pulling these fuses out, taking note of the make and model of alarm and then finding a dealer that can get you replacement remote controls for the system.  If you just leave the fuses removed the system should be completely disabled.
