Car Alarms: Dodge factory car alarms, dodge ram 4x4, rf interference

Question
We have a 2004 Pt Cruiser & a brand new 2006 Dodge Ram 4x4 quad cab 2500, they both sit in the drive way side by side.  Yesterday about 4:00pm the Ram's alarm goes off with the keys sitting on the table, after grabbing the keys and hitting the panic button it stops. Before, I can go back in the house, it starts again.  About 8:00pm both start going off, grabbing the keys, I have to hit the panic buttons again to stop them.  I look around for a cat or something that might be setting them off, but, found nothing.  Before I can get to the door, the PT Cruiser starts in again.  I read a few of the answers on this page, but, I don't have a valet switch on either one.  I disconnected the battery on the Cruiser, last night hooking it up again this morning.  Nothing happened until it got dark and the Cruiser's panic struck again.  My questions are: 1. Can the two set each other off?  2. Will having the battery of the Cruiser disconnected do any damage to the computer?  Please help, my neighbors have shotguns...

Answer
See, the trouble here is that this
is not an aftermarket alarm (s) we have here.
The factory system does not have an impact
or vibration sensor.

And if you have them going off together, at
the same approxamite time, the options are,
1. there is a signal locally, that the two
systems are picking up and paniking the
alarms. This is possible and the FCC demands
that any device like this allows for some
rf interference at any given time.

Anything that generates a signal can overide
if close to the same frequency. Does this happen
in any other location?

2. Something is wrong with the car alarms you have
(unlikely)

3. One of the neighbors is messing with you.
Locate and bitch slap.

4. the remote you have may be geneating a panic signal,
and should be serviced. Start with removing and
replacing the battery. Then isopropal alcohol to
clean the buttons.

Lastly, if no joy, stop back here, and
I can try to help with totally disabling both systems.
Takes a bit of surgery in Dodge/Chrysler vehicles,
but it can be done.

Let me know some details on what you figure out.
