Car Alarms: Prestige car alarm, 2004 honda crv, exact model number

Question
Thanks.  I have a PRESTIGE APS996A REMOTE START CAR ALARM WITH PAGER.  The alarm is currently off because since the control to turn the alarm on or off is not working, my blinkers go on automatically when the car is in use because the alarm is still activated.
The code is being asked for on my radio screen, so I am not sure if its a Honda or prestige alarm code that is needed.
So currently the alarm is off, the radio does not work because its asking for a code but everything else is fine.

-----Question-----
I have a prestige alarm in my 2004 Honda CRV.  Recently I had to reset the alarm because it stopped working.  Now it is asking for a code and when I turn the alarm back on it is not working.  I am not sure what I have to do to reset it and get it to work again.

The Audiovox piece is requesting a "code".  How is it asking for the code?  Does the system have some type of display?  What is the status of the L.E.D. indicator, is it blinking or solid?

Do you have an exact model number of the Audiovox alarm?  If you do, I may be able to point you in the direction of a manual that may be able to shed some light on the problems you are having.

Answer
Great!  That makes a lot more sense to me now.  OK, as far as the radio goes, take a look in the vehicle's owner's manual.  Normally the manual will have a card or similar item in it that will give you the code.  If you do not have the manual, the local Honda dealer should be able to help you with the code using your VIN.  You will have to take the car to the dealership for this to be done.

Now, to the alarm.  To disconnect it permanently, pop down the panel under the steering column, tracing back the wires that are tapped in and remove the inline fuses from the unit.

I personally think it may be worth looking into returning the unit to operational status.  It may be as simple as getting a new remote and programming it to the unit.  You can get the installation manual for that unit directly through Audiovox.  If you head to techservices.audiovox.com and click the link to sign up for an account, they will create an account and allow you to download the manual via the website.  This is an automated and free process.  The manual will also describe the process required to put the unit in valet mode, which will disable all alarm features via the toggle switch eliminating the need to pop down the dash for fuse removal.

Hope this helps
