Car Alarms: PRESTIGE BY AUDIOVOX, exact model number, key fobs

Question

-It worked!B ut I can not find a model number. I did find a little black box about 3 x 5 inches is that the brain if it is the numbers are un-readable and from where I live (key west) It's at least 100 miles to the nearest alarm repair type shop------------------------------------------

After owning my 94 dodge caravan 1 week the alarm went off! I got no little button on the key ring.Under the hood their's a large red switch, I turned it to off to stop the alarm but know I have no power not even doom lights. if I switch it back to on the alarm sounds. what should I do?

The large red switch under the hood sounds like a master cut off switch for the vehicle, not just a cut off for the alarm.  Since you do not have the key fobs for your alarm, I would recommend going under the dash of the vehicle by the steering column.  There you will see wires that have been tapped into the factory harness.  Follow these back till you see fuses, they will be inline fuses and will not look the they were installed by dodge.  Pull these fuses and turn your switch back on, the alarm should be disabled.  While you are under there, I would find the brain of the alarm and get it's model number.  Once you have the model number you can order new remotes as well as download an owner's manual for it.

Without knowing the exact model number of the system it will be nearly impossible to get a new remote control for the system.  All of the harnesses on the brain of the system should be on Molex connecters, meaning you can 'unplug' all of the harnesses and pull the brain out.  Once the brain is out there should be some type of indication to it's model number.  It is possible that from your vantage point looking up under the dash, the print is not readable. If you pull out the brain and it does not list the number(but I believe it will), you could take a picture of it and send it to a retailer that sells Audiovox brand product and they may be able to identify it by just the picture of the brain.
