Car Alarms: Chevrolet Truck Alarm Programming, chevrolet k1500, chevrolet truck

Question
My daughter drives a 1998 Chevrolet K1500 truck.  Recently I had to replace the remotes.  Before I replaced the remotes, when you locked the truck the horn would beep.  Since I replaced the remotes, the horn no longer beeps when you lock the truck, or when the automatic alarm set kicks in!  This was a good way to know the alarm was set.  PLEASE HELP!

Answer
It has last door re arming. and it sounds
as if it's doing it's job.

First, check under the hood for a mis connected
wire at the siren. If undone, reconnect.

Secondly, when you reprogrammed the new remotes
you may have also programmed for silent arm disarm.
On that you will need the manual to get out
of that setting since all alarms are different.

But check the siren first.

Lastly, if it is a GM OEM keyless alarm, and
not an aftermarket system, I would contact the dealer
who got the remotes programmed, and ask him/her
to show you how to reset the system to default
mode, with audible chirps.

I hope you can figure it out.

Good luck.
