Car Alarms: 1998 Mustang Alarm, ford system, ford dealer

Question
The theft light is blinking in the mustang.  When I unlock the car using the remote, the alarm sounds and will not shut off.  The car will not start.  I had to disconnect the battery to stop the alarm.

Answer
This is a Ford system and needs to be
reset by the diagnostic at a Ford dealer.

If it was aftermarket, there is a switch and
a procedure to follow, but in this case,
your anti theft system kicked in and can not
be done by an outside tech. If you have the remotes
that came with it, then you might be able to reset,
but at this point, you need to get to a Ford dealer.

The PATS immobilizor in your ignition column
is engaged from the sounds of it, and may be
because your key has lost it's programing.

Have them check this out too.
