Car Alarms: 2003 Subaru Baja Alarm Disable, subaru baja, factory security

I have just recently purchased a 2-way alarm with remote start.  I will be installing it in a 2003 Subaru Baja with the factory alarm system in it.  I think I need to disable (or remove) the factory alarm before I install the aftermarket unit.  What is the best way to handle the situation?

According to my notes, no factory alarm exsists other then
the radio security.

Please tell me why you think it has "factory security" in it. What is the experience? Horn honking, or siren?
Parking lights or headlights flashing?
