Car Alarms: 1997 Toyota 4runner Factory Alarm, toyota 4runner, dash area

Question
Hello,
My wife got into an accident today "thank God everyone is fine". BUT, I can not get the car to run. Whenever I connect the battery there is a high pitch squeal (like when you try to set the alarm but a door is open). It seems like the cutoff is active. I was able to start the car ONE TIME, but the squeal was still there. I tried turning the key in the ingnition, the door and using the remote. I think I need to find the valet overide and I looked everywhere, no luck. ANYONE! PLEASE :)

Answer
Your dealing with an aftrmarket system.
This year 4 runner did not have any security
save the child safety door lock system.

Usually the valet button for an alarm is to the
left knee area under the dash, or in the plastic
left side underpanels.

Ok, try this.
Put the key in the ignition, and turn forward
all the way just before cranking. Then within
5 seconds, locate, press and hold in the
valet/overide button, found under the
dash area, (push button, spring loaded)
until the installed LED (the blinking light)
in your dash area goes on solid,
and the siren chirps once.

(Your valet switch might be the toggle
(on/off) type. in this case, key on,
flip switch in opposite direction,
then turn the key off.)

This should reset the alarm, and reset
the grounded relay on the starter wire,
allowing you to start the engine.

Sorry to hear about the accident. Hope it
all works out for ya.

PS.
Might have to get up under the dash and
remove the system if no valet is found.
But cross that bridge if you can not figure
it out.
