Car Alarms: How to stop alarm or reset alarm, ford f 150, door locks

Question
My 1995 Ford F-150 has a dash-mounted LED that is flashing.  My remote car key doesn't work anymore, so I just use the key manually to unlock the door.

Every time I unlock the door, the alarm goes off.  How can I stop that darn thing?

There is a reset button under the dash board.  I pressed it, but it doesn't seem to do anything.  Do I have to have the key in the ignition to reset?  or have the key in the "aux" or "start" position and then hit the under-dash reset?

Please help, thanks.
Scott

Answer
Yes, put the key in the ignition, turn all the way
forward just before cranking, press and hold the underdash
button until the LED comes on solid.

That should be overide/reset. The alarm is disabled,
but, if installed, the door locks should still
work.

Repeat the steps to return to armed mode.

Good luck with it.
