Car Alarms: Alarm problem???, dodge grand caravan, fuel injection pump

Question
I have a 1996 Dodge Grand Caravan. It has an Ungo alram system in it. I was driving along and the van died on me. It turns out that i had a fuel pump problem, but now the van will start but shut off after about 5 seconds. We believe its the immobleizer shutting down the engine. We have tried to locate the alarm box but have had no sucsess. Do you have any ideas where they have put this in the model of van. I bought the van used and don't know the original owner. We have tried using the valet switch but it still shuts down after 5 seconds. We have traced the wires from the siren but loose them after they go through the firewall. I have rad in some of the other questions on your site that the control box could be behind the kick panel at the drivers foot. We will look into this tomorrow, but any other ideas would be great.

Thank you for your help.

Answer
Just a couple of things to know. This van
did NOT have a factory immobilizer, s you
are dealing with an aftermarket system.

But here's the bad news. If it was the
aftermarket system, starter kill would not
allow you to start the engine at all. It
would ground the starter wire, and when using
the key, you would get no power at all to
the starter. So from what I am hearing here,
the trouble is a BCM (body control module) issue.

I would go back over the fuel injection pump controls
connections first. "It turns out that
i had a fuel pump problem,
but now the van will start but shut off
after about 5 seconds."

All things being equal. this appears to be your likely starting point. Was working fine prior to the fuel
pump malfunction, right? I think you may have a missed
fuel injection or, line-wire connection.

Have the mechanic double check this.

Good luck. I think you can discount the alarm.

Let me know what you discover.
