Car Alarms: Keyless entry, 1996 chevrolet cavalier, keyless entry system

I have a 1996 chevrolet cavalier z24, the car came with a factory keyless entry system, I was wondering if there was any way to change the settings on it, I would like to change it so that I can get a response when locking  the doors that perhaps the lights turn off, headlights flash, or the horn beeps...Right now when I press lock nothing at all happens, the doors lock but the overhead light still stay on for its required time...if you know how to change this I would be very appreciative, thank you for your time, Ari

No, sorry to say that's not possible
with the factory system. It's a limited program
and does what it does. Can not change that through
factory settings. Even with adding an aftermarket
system, you will find once the door unlocks,
it will also turn on the dome light by default.
You can then add a relay and a diode inline to
make the dome light think the door is still closed.
The light will not come on until you actually
open the door.

The other advantage to an aftermarket addition
would be an output to flash the lights,
and honk the car horn for confirmation.

But the short answer to the base question is no,
the factory system's programing can not be changed or modified.
