I own a 1998 Ford Taurus SE that has a factory installed "theft" system of some kind. When I leave the car, my keychain remote has the capability of locking the doors (when pressed twice the horn sounds briefly and a light on the dash flashes every so often with the word "theft") I wish to install an alarm/remote starter but I'm not sure if I can tie into the factory system and still have the capability of locking/unlocking all doors and opening the trunk lid with the new remote. Any help on choosing the system I should install would be a great help. Thanks!!

You can certainly "tie" into the factory system
and put in an enhanced, aftermarket system with remote
start, replace your current keyless entry and trunk release,
and have the convenience and protection you want.
For me to suggest an item to install, I would
like you to narrow down your sellection a bit, then I

It should take about 3 hours to install it properly
with my notes on the car.
In this year taurus, you will also need to bypass
the transmod immobilizor in the ignition column.
The bypasses are 25.00 and, 1 relay to pop the trunk
as well. (7.95)
