Car Alarms: car alarm, chevy cavalier z24, 2000 chevy cavalier

Question
This might be a dumb question but if your car all of the sudden starts to go off for no reason would it be the battery in the remote to the keyless entry or something else is wrong. Im not sure if its just the alarm acting up and is trying to indicate to me to change the alarm battery on my key chain or if its something else. I was just curious if this has ever happened to anyone else before. I have a 2000 chevy cavalier Z24 with power windows and locks. The alarm had already came with the vehicle that I purchased a year ago.

thanks,

sarah~

Answer
It's doubtfull that the batteries are going,
but it's a simple replacement there. It's also possible
that this system has a very sensitive shock/impact sensor
that is triggering at the slightest vibration
(likely).

If you have the chance, take it into your local
car alarm/stereo store to have it evaluated. If
it is a bad sensor, either replace or unplug
it so that the only way the alarm is triggered
is if the doors are opened. This would discount
all the other veriables, and if still malfunctioning,
you can then remove or replace the system.

Let me know how it goes, and by the way, not a dumb
question. It's a very good one actually, since this
issue comes up alot.

Thanks for asking it here.

Best of luck,
