Car Alarms: Sidewinder Auto Alarm, trickle charger, battery down

Question
I think I may have you a little confused. The alt. was replaced a few years ago. The battery was replaced late june, early july. The last time the battery was run down was last week. I'm in the process of watching this problem a little closer. To be a little more specific, when the I tried to start the truck this past sunday the battery was dead. I placed a trickle charger and slowly replenished the charge. I was able to start my truck monday afternoon. I placed a DVM on the battery terminals and read 14.3 volts with a high idle and as the idle came down the dvm read 13.3. I let the truck idle for a bit to give the battery a little juice. The whole idle time may have been 15 minutes. Since then I have left the alarm off and was able to start the truck on tuesday. I'm going to leave the alarm off and let the truck sit a few days before I attempt to start it again to see if something else is drawing the battery down.
I'm going to assume that if I wait until saturday to attempt to start the truck after leaving the alarm off and it starts that I may have a bad alarm module. I installed the alarm 6 years ago. I'm guessing I may have to buy another alarm to replace the bad module?

Answer
Without being there to inspect it, I would have to
say that you will need to replace the alarm.

Go ahead and confirm it by leaving it un armed.
But yes, if this is the one veriable that is
causing the battery drain, don't waste too much
effort on the old system and replace it shortly.

I have several models that will do well here for you.
