Car Alarms: Car Alarm, ford probe gt, power hookup

Question
Hello. I have a 1996 Ford Probe GT. For the last 2 weeks I have replaced all the usual parts to ensure my car starts ok. Every 10th or 11th start my whole electrical system shuts down.  I have to beep the car of course to open the doors and when i turn the key everything shuts down. I suspect the alarm because after the car shuts down, even the remote beeper doesnt work to reset the car.
I mess with the battery cables a bit and then the car alarm goes off. I then beep the car to reset the ignition kill switch. I then try to turn the key and nothing happens. I repeat this a few time and then let the car sit. Then it starts after about 15 minutes. Whats going on? After its start all systems operate normal and my battery reads normal.  I suspect the alarm. I broke the valet switch years ago so it always goes into alarm mode. But now sometimes even the beeper remote doesnt work.

Answer
All things being equal, I'd have to disagree that
the alarm is causing you the big problem.
It may not be contributing to the overall situation
though. I'd start by discounting the alarm in any way,
by getting in there and unplugging the alarm.

I am more inclined to believe that there
is a problem with the alternator. But try it without
the alarm inline to be sure. Also, when you were
playing with the power hookup, off and on, this could
have cause some grief and popped a diode on the starter kill
relay. that would open the circuit and stay on all the time,
causing battery drain.

But it's more likely that the electrical work that was recently done, may have been the cause of the recent malfunctions. I'd have to advise pulling the system
and or, re do the connections and inspect all
fusable links for outages.

Good luck with it.
