Car Alarms: Resetting Alarm!!!, remotes, programing

Question
I recently rebuilt the engine in my car and replaced the cars battery as well. The car is running well but the alarm doesnt work. I have shaved door handles so the "door poppers" are also controlled by the alarm so therefore I cant open my doors. I was wondering how do I reset the alarm or reactivate it? I was told when you take out the battery and replace it you need to reactivate the alarm or something like that, please help. Also, I have no clue what brand or model or make the alarm is.

Answer
Hard to tell you good things here with the little
info I have on your situation, but unfortunately
it appears when the alarm system powered down,
you lost programing on the remotes. Best idea
now is to break in to the car through the window,
using a jimmy, then put the alarm into
valet/overide mode. Once done, remove the alarm
immediately and replace with a system you know.
If not, it can, and most likely will have this
trouble again in the future.

That's my advice. I know you were looking for
good news, but this one will take some effort
to correct. Since you have no idea what alarm
you have there, it makes for a shakey experience
for you. And I can not advise you to take
this or, that action, without know what we are
dealing with.

Sorry about that.
Good luck with it.
