Car Alarms: Viper alarm system in 92 Blazer, inline fuse, viper dealer

Question
Hi,

I had a transmission rebuilt in my blazer and when it was in the shop, it went in with a dead battery (truck was towed after sitting in the parking lot for a few mos) and after a two week period, they repaired the transmission but was able to charge the battery for "starting" the engine and test driving it.. to make sure the transmission runs good..

Once I got my truck back, the alarm system has become annyoying and i figured i needed to replace an 5 year old battery.. so i went in to have the battery replaced.. thinking it would solve the problem.   nope..  so whats happening to me now, is the valet switch has been disabled and its not working.. so i cannot reset it up and turn off the alarm system.   the alarm goes off every two minutes while im driving and i have to push the remote to shut it down while driving.  what do u think is the cause of the problem?   how can i reset the whole system?  i tried the key ingition turn foward until crank..then tried to switch the valet toggle switch off but it wont turn off..or (light wont turn on steady)..so i either am sitting without hthe engine running and the alarm arms itself.  It will arm itself during the middle of driving..

I am now going to check on for a "bad" connection on ignition wire or something.. but any advice you got for me would be greatly appreciated.

thanks.

Answer
The alarm does not seem to recognize the ignition is
on. This usually means a bad connector, or an inline
fuse is blown. And if the Valet is disconnected,
you'll need to get up under the dash, and either
remove the system (my choice cause Viper is crap)
and replace it, or repair the current system and
hope for the best. Bad plan if you can't currently
control it. May not be able to get help with
it other then with a viper dealer, and I do
not support or assist with Viper products.
Not a fan. They are always malfunctioning, and
the main office is no help at all for the
end user. (you)

In any case, the alarm has to be reset to operate.
If sticking with it, get yourself a replacement valet,
and a user manual for the system so you can
work with it.

Much luck with it,
