Car Alarms: Acura alarm - disable, keyless entry remotes, keyless entry system

Question
Thanks for your quick reply.  The car is actually a 97 i.6 EL (Perhaps the model was only released in Canada, but it is basivally a Honda civic )  What happens is that after locking the doors by depressing the interior manual lock on occasion the horn and lights begin to go off, but not for several minutes after the car has been locked.  This seems to be an intermittent problem so I was hoping there was a quick way to disconnect the alarm.

Hello,

I have a 97 Acura 1.6 EL with high mileage.  The car has been great, but I am no longer preapared to put much money into fixing it.  Over the past few weeks the factory alarm has been going off occasionally for no aparent reason.  I no longer have the keyless entry remotes and only use the keys to lock it.  How can I disable the alarm so I no longer bother my neighbours.

Thank you

I am guessing you meant TL and in any case
there is no way to truely disam the "factory"
alarm unless you remotely lock and unlock
the doors. If it's an aftermarket system we
have there, then the issue is that you need to
replace the remotes, ot the keyless entry
system entirely.

Tell me is the car's horn going off when the alarm is triggered, or a siren?

Answer
It is a Canadian distiction.
Try this. Locate the
OEM Alarm Disarm Wire:
GREEN/BLACK (-) IN THE PASS. KICK PANEL
splice into it, then put to a solid chassis ground.
The would permanantly disable the factory system.

If this wire does not exsist in your version, then
there is no way to simply disarm it for good.

The factory alarm arms and disarms
when the door is locked and unlocked remotely.

This now is a problem for you unless you put in
an aftermarket keyless entry of some sort,
or get the factory remotes replaced.
If not, this will persist.

Anywway, let me know what you find.
