Car Alarms: steady on status LED, valet mode, viper 690xv

Question
I installed a viper 690XV into my 1992 acura legend.  at first the status LED worked fine but now for some reason it is on all the time.  i tried taking it in and out of valet mode and for sure it is not in valet mode but still the LED is steady on.  i cant figure out what is wrong

Check the ignition wire (switched) to make sure it's intalled
correctly, then using the key and the valet button,
Put the key in the ignition, and turn forward
all the way just before cranking. Then within
5 seconds, locate, press and hold in the
valet/overide button and wait for the LED to go out.

If not, you may have a troubled Viper, and may need
to re do the installation.
