Car Alarms: transponder key probs, mitsubishi galant, 2000 mitsubishi galant

Question
i have a 2000 mitsubishi galant which i lost the keys to , i had another key cut but it isnt a transponder key so the car wont start , ive already took the car to a dealer after booking it in but the electrician was off sick so it didnt get done and the dealership is quite a distance, so i was wondering is there any way to bypass it so i dont have to trailer the car to the dealership again?

Answer
I's not that easy here.
There's always a way, but is it
cost effective, or even efficiant
to try to circumvent the OEM system?
Not in your situation.

This product is available but
the problem still brings you to
back to the dealership:

Mitsubishi Galant 2000
Available Model(keyless):
PKU-MIT - Mitsubishi Transponder Bypass
Transponder Bypass: RF override via
induction w/ loop antenna
(transponder incl. no key required)

But here's the kicker:

"Please check the vehicle owner's manual
for additional key programming information.
A Dealership SCAN TOOL may be required,
in order to program to vehicle."
And there in lies the issue with Mitsubishi.

Without the Scan Tool in your case,
since no original key exsists, it's a catch 22
situation for you. You have to go to "Mohamid",
so to speak. Unless under a warranty, it's
up to you to make the arrangements.

The module above would be able to circumvent the
benefit of a chip key, but you would need an original
chip key, or emulated signal generator (mitsubishi's)
to make it all program up so you can just use basic
cut keys.

Wish I had better news, but short of an overhaul and
total removal of the OEM transponder smart key
system, (exceedingly dificult/expensive!) you will have
to do the tow and bear the Mitsubishi
inflated & ubsurd tech charges on this one.

Once done though, they should be able to provide 2
new code security keys for your trouble.

Good luck with it, and hopefully it won't
cost-hurt too much.
