Car Alarms: Viper Car alarm in a 96 Camry, viper alarm system, starter wire

Question
My daughter's 96 Camry has had problems where out of the blue the car will just stop, generally when she is coming to a stop or at a light. The car will idle down and then just cut-off. It will however restart without much problem. Anyway, we have taken the car to our mechanic to troubleshoot and he has found nothing conclussive so far. He does have a theory regarding the Viper Alarm system that is installed. He feels it could be the alarm circuits that once heated are causing the ignition system to fail. He is currently testing with the alarm disabled to see if it will continue to fail. Does this sound like a reasonable problem with Viper systems that are over 6 years old? Thanks for your help

Answer
It could be the starter kill relay inline
on the starter wire that could be the culprit.
there is a diode that goes across this relay, and if malfuntioning, could caus trouble, but I am
leaning more towards an interuption in the
computer system. An alarm, system can't do that.

What would happen if a relay is installed inline on the starter wire would be a seperation of the wire, or grounding, prior to starting. Not WHILE driving.

No alarm, Viper or otherwise is set up to do that.
They do have a form of anti-hijack, but the procedure is different there. If the car is taken while the ignition
wire is energised, and the drivers door is opened, some are designed to set off the alarm, siren and flash the lights, but can not/will not disable the starter until the ignition
is first turned off. Any other way is radically unsafe. and
would not stop it.

Tell the mechanic to locate any trouble in the fuel injector system, or computer modules first, rather
then spending undue time on the alarm. He can simply unplug the alarm to discount it, and keep looking for the goast
in the machine.

Let me know what you find.
