Car Alarms: sound, car alarm, siren

my car alarm works the lights flash and everything  but it does not sound. well it sounds but you can only hear it if u open up the hood and put ur ear really close to it what can the problem b ?also when u put ur ear 2 it even if the alarm is off u can still hear the noise.please help me

The siren sounds like it is not grounded correctly,
or is damaged (water maybe?) but the alarm sound as if it's trying.
Go under the hood, and re ground the siren, and
if you can, check the ground point for the
alarm brain too.

If you find that both are well grounded,
then you will need to replace the siren.
