Car Alarms: paging alarm for x5, bmw assist, xenon headlight

Question
BMW Assist is installed in the truck and it has a built in GPS, but I do not have the BMW built in NAV/GPS system. I don't think you can access or tie into the GPS function of BMW Assist.

I also do not have a built in cell phone, but BMW Assist has  "dumbed down" cell functionality, i.e. like onstar, but there's no phone involved.

The primary reason for installing another alarm system is to get the paging/email funcionality so that if I leave the car at the train station and head into NYC I will get alerted if the alarm is triggered.

I was looking at the Viper 1020GPS, do you not think that it will suit my needs?

Thanks for the help, much appreciated.

Ron

Question -
I have a 2004 BMW X5 4.4i that was recently vandalized and the Xenon headlight assemblies were stolen (that's all that they took).

I'm looking for an alarm that will send me either an email or call my cell when the alarm is triggered. I would prefer that the factory alarm not have to be disabled to faciliate installing the paging alarm, but if it's the only option, I'll consider it.

Thanks in advance for any help, and if you have a system in mind, I would appreciate a price quote.

Ron

Hello Ron,
The issues that need to be addressed here
cross 3 different 12 volt projects.
I have a system in mind,
but it is contingent on 2 things.

#1. Does your X5 have GPS?
#2. Does the vehicle have it's own
built in cellular phone system?

If so, I have a system which provides what you
want, and with the addition of a motion sensor,
and a tilt sensor to detect lifting, and
a transmod bypass module for remote starting
in the BMW X5 for 04-05, then you will have
a true rolling, 2 way alarm, remote start,
& keyless 2 way paging with cellular
dial out security sytem to be proud of.

If not, The system I have in mind has a 2 way
paging system already built in of it's own,
and has excellent range, but would not be able
to call a pre prescribed phone number or send an
email. There are simply no inputs to make
that work yet. The range is upto 3000 ft.

If your vehicle meets the first and second criteria,
I will be glad to sell you the best system for your
needs. I have just the thing to meet your needs if
this is your situation.

Let me know and we'll get you all squared away.

Answer
Gotcha, I would say that that system
looks like a viable choice.

If you have a qualified installation shop
near you that does this system, I would say,
go fo it. You get the backing of DEI if
any problems pop up so I feel confident this
would do the job you are asking it to do.

(one thing, not for nothing, but what
do you expect will happen when you are
in your office in the city, and they
want the neons again? Do you have
a watchman to call at the park n ride?
Just curious.)

I hope it works out for you.
Interesting truck to work with.

Good luck with it.
