Car Alarms: Chevy Impala 2000 with passlock 2, passlock 2, gm passlock

Question
Chevy Impala 2000 with passlock 2

I HATE this anti-theft system.. it protects cars from their owners. A real theif could steal it..
I need help. Is anyone out there that can help? My poor daughetr got this car for her birthday from my ex husband her dad.. I gave a friend the directions to put a cd changer in it. Well he detered from the directions and cause the ignition to lock up.. Now I need to know how to unlock it or how I can maybe bypass the passlock 2 sysytem so that the ignition will unlock... I would like to completly disarm passlock 2 for good...Please can anyone help.. you would be our hero... We dont have the hundreds of Dollars GM would want to take us for on this... Thanks in advanced , Lisa..... my email is

"By it being locked up, I mean the key will not turn in the ignition at all.. the lights will come on the door chimes ding.. the key will not turn..I have been reading on it that the passlock 2 thinks the car is being stolen so the igniton locks up so you can't start it...I have tried cleaning the key off... I checked the fuses.. everything.. they unplugged the radio and then plugged it back in... somewhere somehow they triggered the VATS GM passlock 2 on my 2000 impala... I had someone tell me that GM has to reset the ignition and key code now..but it sesm to me there has to be another way.. can you imagine if I was on the side of the road somewhere and a wire or something came loose and set it off? I would be lost.. I even called Chevy road side assistants and they told all they could do was help me with a tow.. please pleae I hope someone can find a better answer I dont have the $200 to $500 to have it reset.. I read something about maginets being in the lock tumbler and that the passlock 2 will cause the to lock it all up ..
I hope you can help!! thank you so much for answering my post! :)

Answer
I don't like um either, but it's bad news here too.
When we go to bupass this system, it's momentary, and designed to allow for remote starting the engine.
As far as I know, short of removing it altogehter
($$$$$!) that GM will need to reset it
as you said before.

I do appologize for your delema, but deffinately blame the audio installer for this. It is going to cost you to repair it, and he should pay some if not all of it.

But again, no unfortunaely, the tow and reset will be alot cheaper then installing and trying to figure out a permanant bypass on GM passlock II.

Have a look at www.passlockbypass.com for info
on it to see how it's done, but DO NOT let audio boy touch
it again!

He's caused enogh damage for one day I think.

Good luck with it.
