Car Alarms: 92 Prelude Alarm shortout, honda prelude, ungo alarm

Question
I have a '92 Honda Prelude. I don't know if I have a factory installed alarm or aftermarket but the box under the dash says it's an UNGO alarm. It's been raining heavily for the past couple of weeks and I think that some water might have leaked in abdmessed up my alarm. My car won't start unless I jump it now and after I do that, then turn it off, and finaly activate my alarm again after several minutes my alarm will start doing weird beeps or it just won't start at all again. When I turn the ignition to start none of the dash lights turn on but my alarm light on the dash turns on (it was off prior to me turning on the ignition.)My friend I should completey disconnect or remove my alarm and just let everything dry out. Is he right or is there a better solution?

Answer
All things being equal, I would check the car's
alternator. It is an aftermarket system, but
it's unlikely that it's the problem. My guess is
that the vehicle's charging system is now or,
is going bad.
Have a mechanic check it out. If it is the alarm,
your friend has the right idea. Unplug the brain
box under the dash and see if it helps.

Good luck with it.
Let me know what you figure out.
