Question
Thanks for your quick response!
The only button I can find is the one near the key hole that acts as a key release.
This is what happened:
I unlocked (and the horn started sounding!)
Jumped in and re-locked (horn stopped)
After search for the valet button/switch (on both sides, as it's a Right Hand drive)I thought I'd try the button near the key.
Turned key, and pressed button.
I think the red light went out, and after a few seconds the internal beeper beeped once and the light resumed flashing.
Manually unlocked the door to get out and the horn sounded again - back to square one!
I also tried it while the doors were unlocked (with horn sounding)but no change either.
Have I found the right button? I felt all around both foot wells, and looked by the central dash..can't see/feel any other thing except the hood opener and the foot lights!
Feel guilty taking up your time again, but would be really grateful for any extra input you might have?
Thanks again.

Hi,
Hope you can help - I left my jeep for a couple of weeks (locked/alarmed on the remote key)- when I tried to open her up, the doors unlocked but the alarm sounded. reset it, and it locked and stopped. since then, the same thing always happens! Put new batteries in the remote key - no change.
Any ideas where the problem lies?
Many Thanks

Ok, try this.
Put the key in the ignition, and turn forward
all the way just before cranking. Then within
5 seconds, press and hold in the valet/overide
button, found under the dash area,
until the installed LED (the blinking light)
in your dash area goes on solid, and the siren chirps once.
(Your valet switch might be the toggle (on/off) type.
in this case, key on, flip switch in opposite direction,
key off.)

This should reset the alarm, and reset
the grounded relay on the starter wire,
allowing you to start it. At this point,
the only thing working would be
keyless entry from the alarm,
if it came equipped.

Just Repeat these steps to place it
back to usable armed mode.

That should do it.
If you want to remove it at this point,
take it to your neighborhood installer
for this, or buy the wiring chart (www.wirewerx.com)
for the vehicle, and reverse engineer it wire
by wire, until safely removed.

If it does not work out this way,
you will have to replace the system
with one you know how to operate
and what to expect. Don't want to
get stuck in another bad situation.

Let me know what happens.

Answer
David,
It appears to only have the OEM system in it
from Jeep. Let's try to simply disarm and disable
the factory alarm for good. Ok, locate the
FACTORY ALARM DISARM WIRE|green/orange wire |-|in
drivers side kick panel area, in the wire pack
coming in from the door. Next, I want you to
splice a wire into this GREEN/ORANGE striped wire,
and then put an eyelet connector on the end
of the spliced wire, and screw it into the metal
body of the jeep frame so it's totally grounded out.

This permanantly disables the factory security.

I would strongly suggest though that you now
get a real good alarm with starter kill because
it would take a car thief a few moments at this point
to enter it and take off with the Jeep.

I hope this solves your dilema.

Have a good Sunday!
