Car Alarms: 01 and 03 VW new Beetle Remote Start/Air bag light issues, vw new beetle, vw dealership

Question
ALARMTEK,

I just did a remote start install on an 01 Beetle. After the install was done, the Airbag light comes on, both when the vehicle is remote started or started by the key.  Installed a brand new DEI unit, used tech from directechs.com and correctly tested the ignition wires. Also all ignition& Acc wires that were found atthe key cylinder were hooked up.

A fellow installer had the same issue on an 03 Convertable beetle the same day when installing a Code Alarm unit.

Both units function propperly, just air bag lights are on in both vehicles. Would this be something that can be reset by a VW dealership, or is it something 2 MECP certified installers are missing?

Any help or idea you can providewill be greatly appreaciated.

Thanks

Answer
What it appears to be doing is getting energized
when 1 of the ignition wires gets powered, that
controls the airbag light too.
It seem to be feeding off either the second
ignition wire, or the accessory.

The only 2 fixes I can think of is 1. to diode isolate
the air bag light, from it's power source, so
it only comes on when a true airbag trigger occurs.
Hard work. Or 2. to diode isolate
the door triggers.

Sounds odd, but it's all tied into
the VDUB's lighting system. If the dash light for the
airbag is being effected. Try diode isolating
each of the door triggers, or, the light itself.

See what the 2 MECP guys have to say on this idea.
The key here is to NOT throw power on this wire unless
it's actually triggered.

Let me know what the find.
