Car Alarms: Car Alarm, nissan 300zx, alarm locks

Question
My car alarm has a switch, and a valet button that both seemed to do things. It is a reasonably old system and i'm not sure what the manufacturer is, but I know it's old b/c my remote only has 2 buttons... and one i don't even normally use. To active the "panic" I hold down the unused button and press the other button. The other button i use to lock / unlock the doors. I'm trying to provide as much detail about the system as I can. ALso, i know my aftermarket alarm locks and unlocks the door when the key is inserted and turned or removed. The car has always chirped when i lock / unlock the doors, and recently, it's started chirping a second time after i lock the doors. it will chirp, lock, chirp again. And sometimes when I unlock the door or lock it will chirp abuot 4 times. This is highly anoying and i'm afraid my car is abuot to go into god mode like it did once before where the alarm would go off if i unlocked the door with my key. This was very annoying and took me abuot an hour of just randomly pressing the valet buttin, flipping the switch, and turning the key till I got it. Any ideas on why it has started this second chirp, and sometimes repeated chirp and know of a simple general manual that has the commands? Thanks in advance. sorry for the longness. Car is a 91 Nissan 300zx, they have security in them by default, but mine has an aftermarket. Also, sometimes the LED will blink fast with pauses, or constant depending on which position the switch is in. I also know my car has a shock sensor i believe thats what it is, but i dunno if it works, but it seems to be hooked up. Dunno if that helps.

Answer
Too many things can go wrong here,
but it sounds like the alarm is doing it's job.
The 4 chirps you here is the system reporting it was breeched while you were gone.
Maybe a too sensitive shock sensor perhaps.
Valet will only work
with the key as well.
Next time, try this.
Put the key in the ignition, and turn forward
all the way just before cranking. Then within
5 seconds, press and hold in the valet/overide
button, found under the dash area,
until the installed LED (the blinking light)
in your dash area goes on solid, and the siren chirps once.
(Your valet switch might be the toggle (on/off) type.
in this case, key on, flip switch in opposite direction,
key off.)

This should reset the alarm.

Just Repeat these steps to place it
back to usable armed mode.

My best suggestion is to pop for a new system that you
understand from the begining. Won't be too expensive to replace this one, and you will not have unknown reactions
at that point. After many years, a system can "fatique" as well. So without being there to inspect, I'd opt for
replacing the old with the new.  Have a look at my site
www.caralarmz.com . Nice sale going on!

Good luck with it.
