Car Alarms: cant open doors, viper alarm system, viper dealer

Question
I hane a ford probe with a Viper alarm system that up until
tonight was working flawlessly. Tonight I went out to get in car
and the remote would not turn off alarm/ open doors. I installed
a new battery and the LED tells me that the batteries are good.  I
drove the car yesterday and used the remote to lock the car and
arm the alarm. What are my options? I can't enter the car without
the alarm going off and since the car is parked in an indoor
garage, do I have to suffer the indignity of onlookers thinking I
am trying to steal a car?  If I was able to lock and arm the car
last night , what am I missing in terms of trying to gain entry.

Answer
Sounds as if you lost the programing on the remotes.
Try putting it in and out of Valet/overide mode to
see if it resets it. If no joy,
then just leave it in valet/overide mode until you
can get to the dealer:
(Put the key in the ignition, and turn forward
all the way just before cranking. Then within
5 seconds, press and hold in the valet/overide
button, found under the dash area,
until the installed LED (the blinking light)
in your dash area goes on solid, and the siren chirps once.
(Your valet switch might be the toggle (on/off) type.
in this case, key on, flip switch in opposite direction,
key off.)
This should reset the alarm.
Just Repeat these steps to place it
back to usable armed mode. )

Now, take it to the local Viper dealer in town
to reprogram your transmitters (bring both!).

I hope this helps.

Let me know how it goes.
