Car Alarms: Black Widow Alarm, honda civic dx, civic dx hatchback

Question
Hello, my name's Kali, and I own a '93 Honda Civic DX Hatchback. When I bought the car a few weeks ago I was informed by the owner (who moved to Japan) that there was an alarm system. There *is* a Black Widow alarm system in the car, but it doesn't work. When I push the keyless remote button to lock or unlock the car, the headlights flash, but that's it. There is also a red light inside indicating that it should function. I'm not sure where the alarm system would be located, or how to check if a wire is unplugged or anything. Any information you could give me on how I could make it work would be great. My car got stolen about a week ago, and I'm very lucky that only my stereo was stolen. However, I never want my car to be stolen again. Thanks!

Answer
The system may be semit disconnected. (the sire not working)
but in any event, try this.
Put the key in the ignition, and turn forward
all the way just before cranking. Then within
5 seconds, press and hold in the valet/overide
button, found under the dash area,
until the installed LED (the blinking light)
in your dash area goes on solid, and the siren chirps once.
(Your valet switch might be the toggle (on/off) type.
in this case, key on, flip switch in opposite direction,
key off.)

This should reset the alarm.

Just Repeat these steps to place it
back to usable armed mode.

That should do it.
If you want to remove it at this point,
take it to your neighborhood installer
for this, or buy the wiring chart for
the vehicle, and reverse engineer it wire
by wire, until it's safely removed.

If it does not work out this way, you will have
to replace the system with one you know how
to operate and what to expect. I can put
you into a great system for 59.95 +s&h
that would do a better job then trying
to salvage the Black widow.
See whay I have onsale at
www.CARALARMZ.com and I will through in
a starterkill relay to boot.

Good luck with it.
