Car Alarms: ford probe 1995/1996, ford system, ford probe

Question
Hey
I just had a new car alarm professionally installed in my ford probe,as the factory alarm did not offer keyless entry compatibility.
The only problem is, if i push the button to open the doors the factory alarm goes off because it knows the car has been unlocked without a key. Then..when i pull off the battery leads to stop it (another reason i wanted a battery backup alarm) the new alarm goes off. :-(
How can i get rid of the factory alarm? Is there a simple quick fix without having to remove the factory alarm/immobiliser completely (i guess im hoping its as easy as the dodge ;-))
Thanks in advance,
CAM.

Answer
Thre trouble is that the system needed to be bypassed
at the same time you unlock the door. Easy enough
in the earlier version of this car.
The last version, may not be as easy but let's
see if it works. According to the notes
this needs to be done:

Locate the OEM Alarm Disarm Wire,
BROWN/YELLOW (-) in the wire packs in the
DRIVER KICK PANEL. Then I want you to simply
splice into this wire, then put it to the unlock (-)
wire from your alarm (BEFORE) any relays used for
the locks. (This was the Ford/Mazda single wire
door lock system and requires 2 relays and a resistor)
You want to catch the (-) unlock output from the
alarm BEFORE the relay. If your alarm also has
a negative output to disarm factory systems,
this is preferrable to the unlock wire
doing double duty.

By doing it this way, the Ford alarm is still being
used, and is momentarilly bypassed when it receives
a disarm pulse (-) from the unlock wire at the same
time. Preserves the integrity of the Ford system while
using the aftermarket alarm. It should work well
together after that.

Good luck with it. Nice car.

Have a good day.
