Car Alarms: Commando FM-870 Alarm/Remote Start/Keyless Entry, chevy monte carlo, alarmtek

Question
Hello,
I hope you can help me.  I have installed numerous remote start/alarms from commando, specifically the FM-870 but this one has me stumped.  I am installing on a 1996 Chevy Monte Carlo Z34.  I got all of the wiring from commando but it doesn't seem to match up.  First off, it tells me to connect the violet starter wire from the alarm module to the yellow starter from my cars harness.  I did this but all it does when I try to engage the remote start is kick on the ignition, blower motor, etc., it never tries to engage the starter.  The main problem I think I am having is that I believe that my car is equipped with the GM vehicle anti theft system because my key has a little deal on it that looks to be some type of microchip, if this is correct how do I bypass the factory system, the commando site doesn't even list that I have this type of system.  Any help that you could be would be GREATLY appreciated, I am at my wits end.

Thank you,

Mike G.

Answer
Your vehicle has the original VATS system
from GM and needs to be bypassed to do
remote start. See www.passlockbypass.com and also
see VATS I bypass using relays.

That's how you need to get around it.

Good luck with it.

Oh, the module you need for this to do it
without relays is also on the site if you
need one.
