Car Alarms: Remote start ?, cliffords, remote start

Question
Thank you very much in advance for being so kind and offering your expertise. I found you through a site that was basically bashing DEI. I am not loyal to any company but here in NJ it seems that all car audio dealers/installers only carry mostly DEI products. Maybe because they are popular...I don't know. All I want is a quality remote start that will work from 400-500 ft away every time. I just had a DEI valet installed on my girlfriends car and the installer claimed 1000 ft. It barely works at 200-300. Even at 300 I have to press the button like 3 or 4 times and maybe it starts. I was going to install the same in my truck but I held off because I was not impressed with the range. The install was done correct. Antenna high on window, full lengthof wire run, and he even turned the code hopping to get me better range (at my request).

Here is my question....what is the technology that I need to look for to ensure i will get the best range. It looks like some receivers work on HF, HF+ and XHF. Seems like the Vipers, Cliffords and other "high end" products operate on the XHF. My Valet is HF+. Don't know what all this means.... hoping you can help. I do not want to install myself. I would also be open for referrals to any shops you know here in North Jersey.

Thanks!
Robert

Answer
Ya know, I simply just don't here enough about our friends
at DEI. These guys have the stones to overcharge, then
not produce "the Goods." It happens ALOT, and it's
frustraiting to see people fall into the Hype" zone.

There are a couple of places in NJ. A school there
too. (see at www.installhelp.com )

The difference between the HF and XHF systems is an
AM and FM band signal. But seriously, I think it's the
system componants themselves are not up to par.
You don't have to pay an arm and a leg or,
even use fm over am. In this case, it's just
better design over bad, overblown old technology.

There are alot of good choices that would really
do a much better job here. I don't know what vehicle
we are talking about, but I have a couple of
good choices for you here regardless of what vehicle.

Let's start with the Galaxy 1000 RSW  system which has
good range (1000 ft) and is a breeze to install.
You will also be able to do your door locks
as well with any of these selections.

If you want a bit more, look
at the ASTRA 1000 rs 2way system
for 99.95 currently. Big seller here,
adds about 1000 feet more range
and has 2 way paging/status capability.
No alarm.

Last choice would be the Micro 2001c
system which does not page,
does what the first 2 do,
but seems to work best in Honda/Acura
vehicles as a group.

All nice systems, If it were me, I would
lean towards the ASTRA 1000 rsw 2way
Just a great little
system for the money.

These would be my choices
to replace your current system.

I know these systems from installing them
here, and no kidding, these have the best range
and features for the price.

Let me know if I can get you one.

Regards,

ALARMTEK!
