Car Alarms: Still a problem, alarmtek, hotmail

Question
Greetings:

Back on about 10/28/2004 I sent this email and you replied as follows however

I cannot get the unit to go into a "valet overide" mode. Perhaps there is some other sequence or order I should use by pushing the valet button that you may know about. This unit does have "Ford" written on the brain unit and the remote.

When I turn the ingition switch to on and hold in the button after a few moments the alarm sounds three short burst. the led light never comes on solid - steady.

Sorry but it took me a long time to discover where they mounted the button.

Thanks

Subject: 1993 Ford F150 OEM Alarm help to reset
Question -
I bought a 1993 Ford f150 pick-up with what appears to be an OEM installed alarm and electric door lock system.

I use to be able to use the remote for the door locks only and the alarm never - ever set its self. (Activated or armed it's self)

I had some work done and the auto battery was disconnected and reconnected and now the alarm works and the doors work but the problem is this.

Even if I do not lock the doors the “kill ignition” get activated after a few moments, which forces me to have to have the remote available. And I must push the disarm button just to get the truck to start. In my line of work I find this to be quite a bit of trouble.

Is there a way for me to reprogram the system to keep the “kill Ignition” from getting activated even if I do not turn on the alarm by locking the doors with the remote?
Sincer Thanks for your time.

See here's the thing George, this truck
has no OEM alarm so we are probably dealing with an
aftermarket system. That being said, it seems
that the alarm was set off and needs to be put into
and out of "valet overide" to act correctly
and stop engaging the starter kill relay installed
in the ignition column.

Ok, try this.
Put the key in the ignition, and turn forward
all the way just before cranking. Then within
5 seconds, press and hold in the valet/overide
button, found under the dash area,
until the installed LED (the blinking light)
in your dash area comes on solid.
(Your valet switch might be the toggle (on/off) type.
in this case, key on, flip switch in oposite direction,
key off.)

This should be valet. This overides
the starter kill relay in the alarm harness,
and returns the car back to disarmed mode.

The only thing that will work now on your system,
is the keyless entry if installed.

Just Repeat these steps to rearm your system.

That should do it. The alarm and keyless
should now be operational.

If you want to remove it at this point,
take it to your neighborhood installer
for this, or buy the wiring chart for
the vehicle, and reverse engineer it wire
by wire, until it's safely removed.

Let me know what happens.

Answer
Hmmm, this is a hard one. It probably is a Code alarm since
Ford used them for along time for the "OEM" system.
I don't have anything I can offer on that one. Try
writing to my friend Chris at CTURSI@AUDIOVOX.com to
see if he can offer anothe sequence for valet on
your system. He's pretty good, and may be able to
assist.

Have you tried to talk with the parts dept.
at Ford for identification and reseting?

Give that a shot as well.

Lastly, you can go to www.remotesunlimited.com and
use the FCC ID.# off the back to Id it.
They specialize in replacement remotes, and may
be able to offer the solution as well.

Good luck with it.
