Question
Ok, my boyfriend was having a friend install his amp. His friend blew up the stiffening cap and sent a huge surge to the battery. I;m thinking this probably did damage to the alarm system. well everything was fine until a couple of days ago when i was driving at night, the amp indicator light popped on and all the lights went so dim i couldn't even see the road. now the battery just gets drained and won't charge by itself. every time i want to start the car i have to hook up the battery charger to it. should we just go ahead and take the alarm out and if so are there any wiring diagrams out there to use to do this?

Answer
Well, I sell the wiring charts for cars at
www.WIREWERX.com but I think you have a burnt
alternator or a bad battery.
Save your dough on that for a bit and have
a mechanic check it out.
I am leaning towards the alternator.
Have this checked first. An alarm
will only be as good as the electrical system.
It is unlikely that the alarm is causing your
problems. I've seen this many times
and it usually ends up being the cars
electronic system, not the aftermarket alarm.

Let me know what you find out.
