Car Alarms: 1994 Ford Explorer Factory Alarm, ford explorer eddie bauer, explorer eddie bauer

Question
I actually found the Valet switch to be on the drivers side back panel (next to the jack storage). I also found the real cause of the unwanted alarm.  There is a minor leak somewhere in the back drivers side window. I would still like to bypass the alarm. The leak isn't major enough for immediat repair. The constant alarm is.

Anyway, with the help of a friend, I followed your directions. The alarm shut off. However, everytime I use the remote locks, it goes off again.  Any other suggestions are greatly appreciated.  I think I am to the point that I will have a professional disassemble it.

Question -
I have 1994 Ford Explorer Eddie Bauer Edition. The factory alarm goes off everytime it rains. I would like to bypass the alarm altogether, while keeping the remote keyless entry.  Is this possible?  (without taking it to a ford dealer?)

Answer -
I doubt that it is the factory alarm.
The factory system would only be triggered
if the door was opened without the key,
What you have there is an aftermarket alarm
and the shock/impact sensor is set too high
detecting the rain and lightning.
Not uncommon.

Ok, try this.
Put the key in the ignition, and turn forward
all the way just before cranking. Then within
5 seconds, press and hold in the valet/overide
button, found under the dash area,
until the installed LED (the blinking light)
in your dash area comes on solid.
(Your valet switch might be the toggle (on/off) type.
in this case, key on, flip switch in oposite direction,
key off.)

This should be valet/overide mode.

This overides the starter kill relay in
the alarm harness, and returns the car
back to disarmed mode.

Now the shock sensor is also disabled.
If you can locate it under dash,
then try to unplug  the shock
sensor or, turn it down/off.

At this point the only thing that
will work now on your system,
is the keyless entry system.

Just Repeat these steps to
rearm/rest your alarm system if
you still want to use it.

That should do it.
If you want to remove it at this point,
take it to your neighborhood installer
for this, or buy the wiring chart for
the vehicle, and reverse engineer it wire
by wire, until it's safely removed.

Let me know what happens.

Answer
Not being there makes this difficult at best.
Hmmmm, first off, an aftermarket car alarm is
not installed in the rear. So I think you
may be dealing with something else.

Ok try this.

Locate the GREEN/PURPLE wire either in
the drivers side kick panel or, at the
Anti-theft module located by the keyless
module in the rear. Once found, ground it,
using the same guage wire to the body of
the truck. That will permanantly disable the
Ford factory alarm system. Then see if
the trouble goes away. If it does, the
you are in good shape, but I strongly suggest
you get a good aftermarket system to protect it
and give you a better keyless system to boot.

Let me know if it corrects
your trouble.
