Car Alarms: Installed a remote starter..., mercury grand marquis, 1989 mercury grand marquis

Question
Installed a remote starter on a 1989 mercury grand marquis. Everything works fine but had trouble with the park lights going out.Took the switch out and found that the wire which i hooked the wire for the park lights to got real hot and melted the insulation.Playing with it a bit the switch gets hot on the side that the wire is hooked up on.The instructions i had gave me a color code of brown (+) and the only brown i found was brown/white. I hooked it up under the hood and not at the switch on that wire. Would that make a difference. Also that brown/ white at the switch was cut before and they added a piece of wire which is one size smaller than what that brown/ white is .Could it be too small? This is one of those delay switches for the head lights park lights. Or do i have the wrong parklight wire?  The owner said he didn't have trouble with the park lights before.

Answer
You are on the wrong wire for sure, and caused the outage.
Go either directly to the light switch, or find
the brown wire in the drivers side kick to find it.
You can even go directly tot he front side
parking light if you have to, but take off the
wire going to the brown/white wire immediately.

Keep looking.
