Car Alarms: bought used car with unknown alarm, fcc id number, dosen

Hi, I just bought a 98 civic that has an after market alarm installed.  The guy thinks it is a Viper, but dosen't know for sure and has no manual.

I want to find out the BRAND and MODEL of the alarm so I can

- turn off the passive arming
- Get another remote
- look into why I have such poor range (2ft from car) with the alarm even with a fresh battery.

So, how can I find out about the alarm, I looked under the hood and the horn dosen't have any identifying marks on it...

Well short of fishing out the alarm brain ,
try giving me the FCC. ID number on the
back of the remote you have now to
identify the alarm and I will look into it
for you. If there is anything available,
I will be glad to tell you what, how much
and where to send the money to get the replacement
remote. It will come with the required
programing info if avaialable, and if
the manual is online, I will attempt to
get you a copy. Please let me have
your email so I can research it in your
next letter.
