QuestionI just got a Cadillac Escalade ext 2004 and i have nice rims on it, I has just wondering should I get a better alarm system and if so each one,maibe viper791xv,do you have better idea.

AnswerThat alarm is fair compared to the
Galaxy 5000 rsw 2 way system.
The Galaxy Beats the Viper 791xv hands
down for range and long term performance.
I have both systems here, 1 installed
in a new Ram truck (the Viper/Hornet 554t-same thing)
and 1 installed in an 02 Expedition (the Galaxy)
and between the 2 units, the Galaxy out performs
the against the Viper in almost every way.
Mostly the biggest difference is that the range
is almost 3000 ft as opposed to the Viper's at
only 2000 (if that!) Best part is the Galaxy is only
169.95 and comes with 2 LCD remotes. The Viper
has 1 LCD remote, and 1 standard.
That makes it a lock in my opinion.

Go for the Viper if you want to pay the 40% markup,
for a lesser system, or get the Galaxy, and be
extremely happy.
Either way, the Escalade will require a
bypass module for the PASSLOCK II system
in the ignition, and 2 relays for
the door locks.

Bottom line, best part about the Galaxy over the Viper
is the after sale support on the product.
You can actually call the
manufacturer direct if any questions
come up and get that help directly.
You CAN NOT do that as an end user with a Viper alarm.
They don't allow that, & will make you go to a dealer
and pay dealer costs for any after install support
before they will even talk with you.
Bad business practice, & Not such a good deal.
Ask around about that prior
to getting ANY DEI (viper) equipment. A total
pain in the butt when you need something done.
Your call though. It is my opinion after all.
After 30 year at selling and installing all
of these systems, you get to see what works well
at a great price and what is marked up, price wise,
to the roof, but does'nt really work half as
well. Really frosts my cookies to see guys
get ripped off like that!
