I have an 1992 Rodeo that I had fitted with a viper car alarm, remote door lock and remote start. Today, I was told that the alarm was going off in the company parking lot and then shut off by itself. After work, everything worked fine, but now nothing works. I can't open the doors remotely, but more importantly, I can't start the car at all.
Is there a quick fix, or at worst, how can I disable the system so I can start the car with the key?
Answer -
Ok, try this.
Put the key in the ignition, and turn forward
all the way just before cranking. Then within
5 seconds, press and hold in the valet/overide
button, found under the dash area in most cases,
until the installed LED (the blinking light)
in your dash area comes on solid.
(Your valet switch might be the toggle (on/off) type.
in this case, key on, flip switch in oposite direction,
key off.)

This should be valet. This overides
the starter kill relay in the alarm harness,
and returns the car back to disarmed mode.

The only thing that will work now on your system,
is the keyless entry if installed.

Just Repeat these steps to rearm your system.

That should do it.

Let me know what happens.

I tried what you suggested and it still doesn't  work. My light doesn't come on and the car won't start. My battery indicator shows 12 volts and I don't think that is the problem. To recap, my keyless entry doesn't work, the remote start doesn't work and although I can use a key to open the door, I can't start the car.

Answer
The system sounds as if it's in panic mode.
I don't sell or install Viper alarms, so I am
just spit balling here, but if you find the
button under the dash, it may need to be
helpd up to 10 seconds possible. The igniton
key has to be on and this is all done within
5 seconds of ignition, but if it still does
not get it, I would contact the guy who put
it in for immediate service.

Short of that, you would need to pull the
alarm and unplug the brain from the harnessses.

Try the installer first. You can also go to
www.directed.com and see if your system has
a users manual there to figure it out with.

Good luck with it.
