Car Alarms: car alarm activates for no reason, ford mustang gt, keyless entry system

Question
I just purchased a 2004 Ford Mustang GT, for the first two days the alarm acted normal, but then started to go off shortly after it was set for no reason. Occassionally it would activate fine, give the second chirp after 30 secs (like its suppose to), but most of the time it gives the second chirp and starts to go off about 5 secs after. Its a brand new car, only 300 miles on it and its driving me crazy that I can not even lock the doors now!

Answer
My guess is that the installer put the door trigger wire
from the alarm, on the wrong wire in the Mustang. This would cause the "open circuit" effect you are experiencing.
What this suggests is that the 04 Mustang either has a delay on the dome light, and the alarm is reading it and
goes off. Not uncommon. The fix is to have the dealer contact the alarm installer to modify this connection or this will happen all the time.

Another choice here is that the ignition wire from the alarm, that detects the ign being
on or off is malfunctioning some how. Either a bad
connector, or wrong wire. And also, in some Fords,
there is a device called the GEM module. See the relay
bypass solution for this at www.relayhelp.com  under
"waking up the GEM module".

This is designed to conserve battery power
by dropping power on some of the wires
30 secs or so after locking the doors.
If not using the Ford's OEM keyless entry system
that addresses this issue, the installer would
need to address this in the system he installed
if it's the cause of your troubles.
If not, you may have trouble
unlocking the doors or, using an aftermarket
alarm properly.

Bottom line, you are must be covered by warranty. Get
over to the dealer right away and have this corrected,
or you will be dealing with it all the time.

Good luck with it.
