Can't get the LED to go solid.  System seems to ignore the button and the alarm is very erratic, with the siren going off and on, going full volume and then going down in volume until you can just hear it (kind of acts like it's got a short)  For an instant while I was trying I got back power to my radio and inside accessories, but only a click (I think from the starter) when I tried to start the car.  Again, I don't mind disabling the system for good if it means getting the car started.  Really do appreciate your help.

Answer
From your description, I'd have to say that your
cars battery is the trouble. It's loosing power somewhere, or not holding a charge because the fluctuation of the alarm, shows it's not receiving power correctly. That
why it' erratic. Bet you dollars to doughnuts that it's either your cars charging system, or the battery itself.

I would check that out first. If that is not it,
then you would then need to remove the alarm from
it's harness under the dash ti restore your starter.

Try replacing the battery first.
