Car Alarms: Viper Alarm Keyless Entry, mazda mx 6, pain in the butt

Question
I drive a used 94 Mazda MX-6 LS Coupe.  Whenever I activate my alarm(Viper).  I can hear the door trying to lock.  Yet, the door do not automatically lock.  It also doesn't not unlock when I deactivate the alarm, yet I still able to hear the dork mechanism trying to unlock.
Is this normal?  Do I have keyless entry but somehow it doesn't work?  How/Where do I look to find if I have keyless entry.  Thank you for you help in my advance.

Answer
Ok, in the Mazda MX-6, there is what's called a "by wire" door lock system. Not an actual electric locking system like most cars. To get it to be controlled by remote on the Viper, a door lock actuator was installed on the drivers
side door, to control all doors.

What it sounds like is the actuator has either
loosened it's connection on the
door rod in the the unlocking mechanism
(see door lock actuators on my site www.relayhelp.com)
or, that the actuator is in someway damaged. I am
leaning towards the first explaination since you can
hear it trying to unlock or, lock, but no physical
reaction is evident. Again, sounds like it is "slipping".
Still working, but the attacthment screws have loosened.

You need to pull the door panel away from the door,
then find the little door actuator (motor)
on the door lock stem to inspect it and tighten
accordingly.

Pain in the butt I know, but that's my educated guess.
This will happen over time, so it's not
an unusual situation. Not too hard a project
to repair/replace, but that's where you need to look.

Good hunting.
