Car Alarms: Miscellaneous Auto Wiring, alarmtek, auto wiring

Question
Dear Xpert-

I have a simple enough question for you though I've not been able to find the answer anywhere!

My simple problem: I am looking to install some LED lights to my vehicle in clusters. With them being 4 high and 5 wide, I'll have 20 LEDs joined together. The LEDs are rated at 1.8v - 2.4v each, with max reverse current at 20mA.

How do I go about hard wiring all these together and making them work on my car's 12V system?

Thanks in advance for any information you might have for me. I decided to contact you, btw, because you seem the most knowledgeable on misc. auto wiring.

Answer
The trouble here is the load you want to use.
20 in tandum makes it dificult. But you need a controller
to do all at this point if trying to do a pattern etc...

Normally it would work like this
power to 12 volt constant
yellow to switched 12 volts (ignition sense)
black to ground when armed wire (starter kill wire)
from your alarm system. That way the extra
LED'S will use a common ground, but would
need to be wired to a 10 amp fused, 12 volt
constant seperately. Can't do them all on one source
point or they would all fry.

Lot's of work.

Have fun.
